Prep for competitive schools
Give Your Child an SSAT Advantage
Our SSAT prep is designed for students preparing for competitive schools. With focused practice, expert guidance and personalized support, your child builds confidence and consistency, so your family feels prepared well before test day.

Why Prep With Us for the SSAT
Personalized from the start
Prep begins with a diagnostic exam that shows which sections and question types need the most attention. Each student then follows a plan built around those results.
Designed by expert curriculum developers
Our SSAT curriculum is created by expert curriculum developers and organized by level and question type, to focus on the areas that make the biggest difference.
One-on-one, focused instruction
Experienced tutors guide every session, helping students build accuracy, pacing and confidence through targeted practice.
Complete SSAT Section Prep
The Middle and Upper Level SSAT share the same sections, with questions matched to your child’s grade. We prepare your child for the level they will take.
| Section | What practice can involve |
|---|---|
| Quantitative | Arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data questions. Practice focuses on choosing a quick method, checking work and pacing across both math sections. |
| Verbal | Synonyms and analogies. Students build vocabulary and learn to spot the relationship between words before looking at the answers. |
| Reading Comprehension | Passages from fiction, poetry and nonfiction. Students practice finding the main idea, making inferences and answering on time. |
| Writing Sample | One short timed piece, unscored but sent to schools. Practice covers choosing a prompt, planning quickly and writing with a clear structure. |
How It Works
Step 1
Consultation and diagnostic
Start with a consultation and a diagnostic exam to understand academic needs, goals and timelines. This helps us match your child with the right tutor.
Step 2
Personalized tutor match
Students are matched with a tutor by subject needs, learning style and schedule. The right fit means faster progress, better focus and results you can see sooner.
Step 3
Customized after-school plan
The plan is built from the diagnostic results and organized by question type. Each lesson targets the exact skills being missed, with clear goals and focused practice.
Step 4
Ongoing support and progress updates
Regular check-ins and progress updates show families what is improving, what still needs work and how the plan adjusts as the test date gets closer.
Bring your questions. We’ll help with the next step.
A consultation is a place to talk through schools, test dates and a practical tutor match.

Why Families Choose Our SSAT Prep
Families choose our SSAT prep because it makes a big step feel manageable, and because they can see the progress. Here’s what sets us apart:
- Experienced SSAT tutors
- Lessons organized by level and question type
- Individual attention

- Parent communication and progress updates
“The SSAT was a big deal for us. The tutor broke it down, gave good practice, and the student took his test more calmly.”
These are individual experiences, not guarantees of test scores or admissions results. Your child’s goals, starting point and ongoing practice will shape the learning journey.
Frequently asked questions
Which SSAT level will my child take?
It depends on your child’s current grade: the Elementary Level for grades 3 and 4, the Middle Level for grades 5 to 7, and the Upper Level for grades 8 to 11.
When should my child start SSAT prep?
Most families start 3 to 6 months before the test date. That leaves time for a diagnostic, focused practice and full timed tests before admissions deadlines.
How is the SSAT scored?
Each scored section gets a scaled score and a percentile that compares your child with other students in the same grade. The writing sample is not scored, but schools read it.
What is the difference between the SSAT and the ISEE?
Both are private school admissions tests, and many schools accept either. The SSAT includes analogies, while the ISEE has a separate math achievement section. A diagnostic shows which suits your child better.
Is online SSAT prep effective?
Yes. Online sessions are live and one-on-one, with the same diagnostic, plan and progress updates as sessions at our Newport Beach office.
