College Counseling With a Clear Plan

Applying to college is a lot to manage. Your child gets one counselor who knows them, a school list that fits and a calendar you can see, so every deadline is met without the stress at home.

Why Work With a College Counselor

A plan built around your child

We start with your child’s grades, interests, activities and goals, then build a school list and timeline that fit them, not a generic checklist.

One counselor who knows them

Your child works one-on-one with the same counselor from the first meeting to the last application, so advice stays consistent and personal.

Less stress at home

A shared deadline calendar and regular check-ins mean everyone knows what is due, what is done and what comes next.

What College Counseling Covers

Every family starts in a different place. These are the areas we work on together, at the pace your child needs.

Areas of college counseling and what we work on together
Area What we work on
School list Researching colleges together and building a balanced list of reach, target and likely schools across UC, CSU, private and out-of-state options.
Timeline and deadlines One calendar for early and regular deadlines, testing dates, recommendation requests and financial aid forms.
Courses and activities Choosing courses that match your child’s goals and shaping activities, summer plans and leadership into a clear story.

Decisions and next steps Comparing offers, preparing for interviews and making a confident final choice.

How It Works

Step 1

Consultation

Start with a consultation to talk through your child’s grade, goals and timeline. This helps us match your child with the right counselor.

Step 2

Counselor match

Your child is matched with a counselor by goals, interests and schedule, so meetings feel natural and productive from the start.

Step 3

Personalized admissions plan

Together we build the school list, a testing plan and a deadline calendar, with clear tasks for every month.

Step 4

Ongoing check-ins

Regular meetings and progress updates keep applications moving, so families always know what is done and what comes next.

Bring your questions. We’ll help with the next step.

A consultation is a place to talk through goals, timelines and a practical counselor match.

Talk About College Counseling

The Right Support at Every Grade

In ninth and tenth grade, counseling is about laying foundations: choosing the right courses, building strong study habits and finding activities your child genuinely cares about.

In eleventh grade the focus moves to the school list, a testing plan and college visits. Senior year is about essays, applications and deadlines, then comparing offers and making a confident choice.

Why Families Choose Our College Counseling

Families choose our college counseling because it turns a long, uncertain process into a clear plan. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • One-on-one guidance from start to finish
  • A school list that fits your child
  • A shared deadline calendar
  • Essay feedback from experienced writers
  • Parent communication and progress updates

“College counseling was the missing piece. We built a deadline calendar, cut the school list down, and got real notes on the essay draft. Way less stress at home, honestly. Finally.”

Anthony, parent

These are individual experiences, not guarantees of admission. Every student’s goals, record and list of schools are different.

Frequently asked questions

When should my child start college counseling?

Ninth or tenth grade is a good time to plan courses and activities. Most families start focused counseling by eleventh grade, which leaves time for testing, the school list and essays before senior year.

Do you guarantee admission to a specific college?

No. No one can honestly guarantee admission. We help your child put forward the strongest, most authentic application they can, to a list of schools that fit them.

Do you help with UC and Cal State applications?

Yes. We help with the UC application and Personal Insight Questions, Cal State applications, the Common App and school-specific supplements.

Can you help with college essays?

Yes. Counselors help with topics and planning, and our college application writing support gives detailed feedback on every draft.

Is college counseling available online?

Yes. Meetings are live and one-on-one, online or at our Newport Beach office, with the same plan and check-ins either way.

Let’s take the next step, together.
