Communication and Confidence Your Child Needs

Trouble with English rarely stays in English class. It can affect grades in every subject, your child’s confidence and how often they speak up in class.

Lessons are one-on-one, online or at our Newport Beach office, and built to close the specific gaps holding your child back. Each student is matched with a tutor by personality, goals and learning style.

How It Works

Step 1

Assessment

We start by finding where your child is struggling, and why. A reading problem can be a vocabulary gap, and a writing problem can be a planning gap.

Step 2

Tutor match

Your child is matched with a tutor by personality, goals and learning style, so lessons feel natural from the first session.

Step 3

A plan built for your child

An individual plan grows skills step by step, starting with the gaps that hold your child back most.

Step 4

Feedback and progress

Your child gets clear, practical feedback in every session, and you get regular progress updates on what is improving.

Meet your child’s tutor before you commit.

A free first lesson is a low-pressure way to see how sessions work and how your child connects with their tutor.

The After Class Tutors Method

Tutors teach strategies, not answers. Beyond each assignment, your child builds study habits and learns how they learn best.

  1. Personalized feedback

Clear, practical notes your child can act on right away.

  2. Interactive learning

Conversation and real practice, not lectures.

  3. Confidence building

Encouraging independent thinking and class participation.

  4. Structure that sticks

Simple frameworks for planning essays and analyzing texts.

  5. Exam and time management

Techniques for timed writing, tests and busy weeks.

  6. Independent success

The goal is a student who can do it on their own.

Frequently asked questions

Will the tutor do the work for my child?

No. Tutors teach your child how to approach prompts, plan essays and read closely, so they can do the work on their own.

What happens in a typical session?

The tutor reviews what your child is working on in class, then works through it together, using shared documents and a digital whiteboard online.

How often should my child have sessions?

Once or twice a week is typical. Some students add sessions before big essays or exams.

My child gets anxious or stuck on writing. Can you help?

Yes. Tutors break assignments into small steps with brainstorming and guiding questions, so a blank page feels manageable.

Can we try a lesson first?

Yes. K–12 students can book a free first lesson to meet a tutor and see how sessions work.

What do we need for online sessions?

A reliable internet connection and a device with a webcam and microphone. Sessions are also available at our Newport Beach office.

Let’s take the next step, together.
