Chemistry Tutoring That Makes the Elements Click

Experienced tutors break chemistry into clear, manageable steps, from balancing equations to equilibrium and first organic mechanisms.

Master the Science of Matter

Chemistry mixes new ideas, new vocabulary and a lot of math, and each unit builds on the last. A shaky start with moles or bonding can make the rest of the year feel out of reach.

Lessons are one-on-one, online or at our Newport Beach office, and follow what your child is studying in class. Each student is matched with a tutor by personality, goals and learning style.

Support Across Every Part of Chemistry

Areas of chemistry tutoring and what lessons focus on
Area What lessons focus on
Foundations Atomic structure, periodic trends, bonding and naming compounds, the ideas every later unit builds on.
Reactions and stoichiometry Balancing equations, mole conversions and limiting reactants, set out one clear step at a time.
Thermochemistry Enthalpy, energy changes and calorimetry, and what the numbers actually mean.
Acids, bases and solutions Concentration, pH, titrations and equilibrium.
Introductory organic chemistry Hydrocarbons, functional groups and the first reaction mechanisms.
Lab skills Handling data, significant figures and writing a clear, well-argued lab report.

How It Works

Step 1

Assessment

We start by finding where understanding breaks down. Many chemistry struggles come from algebra or unit conversions rather than the chemistry itself.

Step 2

Tutor match

Your child is matched with a tutor by personality, goals and learning style, so lessons feel natural from the first session.

Step 3

A plan built for your child

An individual plan follows your child’s class, firms up the basics first and then builds toward harder problems.

Step 4

Feedback and progress

Your child gets clear feedback in every session, and you get regular progress updates on what is improving.

Meet your child’s tutor before you commit.

A free first lesson is a low-pressure way to see how sessions work and how your child connects with their tutor.

The After Class Tutors Method

Tutors teach strategies, not answers. Beyond each assignment, your child learns to set up problems carefully, check their work and think like a scientist.

  1. Personalized feedback

    Step-by-step explanations of each mistake.

  2. Interactive learning

Guided practice with corrections in real time.

  3. Confidence building

Turning a confusing problem into an orderly solution.

  4. Structure that sticks

Firm basics before moving to harder topics.

  5. Exam and time management

Planning and pacing for unit tests and finals.

  6. Independent success

The goal is a student who can do it on their own.

Frequently asked questions

Will the tutor do my child’s homework?

No. Tutors guide your child through each problem with questions and worked examples, so they learn the method and can solve the next one on their own.

What happens in a typical session?

The tutor reviews what your child is studying in class, then works through problems, labs or test practice together, using a digital whiteboard online.

My child understands the ideas but gets the math wrong. Can you help?

Yes. Tutors teach a clear setup for every calculation, with units written out, so conversions and stoichiometry stop feeling like guesswork.

How often should my child have sessions?

Once or twice a week is typical. Some students add sessions before unit tests or finals.

Can we try a lesson first?

Yes. K–12 students can book a free first lesson to meet a tutor and see how sessions work.

What do we need for online sessions?

A reliable internet connection and a device with a webcam and microphone. Sessions are also available at our Newport Beach office.

Let’s take the next step, together.
